A template stores a QR code design so you can reuse it on new codes in one click. It keeps your codes on brand without redoing the design each time.

Before you start

  • You need the Admin or Editor role. Viewers can see templates but can’t create them. See Roles and permissions.
  • Templates belong to the workspace, so every member sees and can use the templates you save.

What a template saves

Create a template from the Templates page

1

Open QR Templates

Click QR Templates in the sidebar.
2

Start a new template

Click New template.
3

Name the template

Type a name in the My template field, for example “Spring campaign”. Names can be up to 40 characters.
4

Design the code

Pick a tab: Custom designs, Branded designs or AI designs, and set up the design. The preview updates as you go.
5

Save

Click Create template. You see “Template created”, and the template appears on the QR Templates page.
New to the design options? See Colors, Logo, Frames, Branded designs and AI designs.

Save a template while creating a QR code

You can save the design of a code you’re building or editing.
1

Open the design step

In the QR code builder, go to the Customize & Download step.
2

Tick Save as template

Under the preview, select Save as template.
3

Save the QR code

Click Create QR (or Save changes when editing). GetQR saves the code and creates the template.
The new template takes the QR code’s name. Rename it later on the QR Templates page, see Manage templates.
You can also save the design of a bulk batch as a template. See Create QR codes from a CSV.

Use cases

  • Brand kit. Save one design with your logo and brand colors, then use it for every new code.
  • Campaigns. Keep a separate template per campaign or season so all its codes match.
  • Team consistency. Editors use the shared templates instead of designing codes themselves.

Common issues

Your role is Viewer. Viewers can view templates but can’t create or edit them. Ask a workspace Admin to change your role.
The name field is empty. Type a name, then click Create template again.
Shorten the name to 40 characters or fewer. The counter under the field shows how many you’ve used.
The checkbox shows only once there is a design to save. Upload a logo on Branded designs, or generate images on AI designs, then look again.
The template wasn’t saved. Check your connection and try again. If it keeps failing, contact [email protected].
