A frame puts a border and a short caption, such as “Scan me!”, around your QR code. A clear call to action tells people why to scan and gets more scans.

Before you start

  • Frames are on the Custom designs tab. Branded and AI designs don’t use frames.

Add a frame

1

Open the design step

In the builder, go to Customize & Download and stay on Custom designs.
2

Open Frame

Click the Frame chip.
3

Choose a frame

Pick a frame under Frame around the QR code. Frames made for your QR type are shown first.
4

Pick a color preset (optional)

Choose a swatch group under Color presets to color the code, frame and caption together.
5

Open Customization

Click the Customization chip to edit the caption.
6

Write the caption

Type your call to action in QR Text. Up to 12 characters.
7

Adjust the colors (optional)

Set Text Color and Frame color.
To remove the frame, pick the first tile (no frame) under Frame around the QR code.

Settings

Use cases

  • Menus and tables: “View menu” or “Order here”.
  • Posters and flyers: “Get tickets” or “Learn more”.
  • Packaging: “How to use” or “Register”.
  • Reception and guest rooms: “Free WiFi”.

Tips

  • Keep the caption short and specific. Twelve characters is enough for a clear call to action.
  • Make sure Text Color stands out from Frame color, so the caption is easy to read.
  • Leave space around the frame when you place it in a layout, so the frame doesn’t touch other elements.

Common issues

The caption is limited to 12 characters, so it fits inside every frame. Use a shorter phrase.
If you leave QR Text empty, it goes back to the default “Scan me!”. Type your own text instead.
Some frames have no caption. Pick a different frame if you need text.
These fields only appear when a frame is selected.
