The QR code doesn’t scan

  • Make sure the code has strong contrast: a dark pattern on a light background works best.
  • For print, download SVG or PDF, or JPG/PNG at 2048 or 4096 px, so the code stays sharp. See Print your QR code.
  • Leave some empty space around the code and don’t print it too small.
  • Test the downloaded file with your phone before printing a large batch.
PNG and SVG downloads have a transparent background. On a dark surface the pattern can disappear. Download JPG for a solid background, or place the code on a light area.
Complex or low-contrast images make codes harder to read. Try a simpler image with more contrast, or increase Pattern size so the QR pattern shows through more. If GetQR says the image can’t carry a reliable QR code, pick another image. See Branded designs and AI designs.
Use Scale logo in the Logo tab to make it smaller, or upload a more square version. Very wide or tall logos are adjusted automatically. See Add a logo.

The code scans but shows a GetQR page

When something stops a code from opening your content, people see one of these pages. Each one says it’s not a technical error.
The code is paused. You paused it, its pause date passed, or it reached its scan limit. Open My QR Codes, click the code’s status to see why, then click Activate or use Set Access Rules to change the date or limit. See Manage your QR codes.
The workspace subscription has ended. All the workspace’s codes show this page until the Admin renews. Nothing was deleted. See Account and trial.
The code was deleted. Deleted codes can’t be restored; create a new QR code and replace the printed one.
The code was scanned before its account was set up. This happens when you build a code on getqr.com but don’t finish checkout. Complete the signup to activate it. See Account and trial.
The code has a password. Enter it and click Unlock. If you see Too many incorrect attempts. Please try again later., wait and try again. If the owner set a new password, people who unlocked the code before need to enter the new one.

The code opens the wrong page or an error

GetQR redirects correctly, but your destination isn’t working. Check the QR Health column on My QR Codes: it shows problems such as Broken link, SSL expired or Domain expired. Fix the website, or click Update destination URL to point the code somewhere else. You don’t need to reprint.
Your website has bot protection or rate limits that block GetQR’s automatic check. Real visitors are most likely unaffected. Open the destination yourself to confirm it loads.
Changes apply on the next scan. Make sure you saved them: the content editor and the builder both have a save button you need to click. WiFi QR codes are the exception: they store the network details in the code, so you need to download and print them again.

Custom domain problems

The code uses a custom domain that hasn’t finished DNS setup. Anything you print now won’t scan. Click Open domain settings and finish verification. See Verify and troubleshoot a domain.
The DNS record for your custom domain was removed or changed. Codes on that domain won’t scan until the record is restored. Codes on your GetQR link aren’t affected. See Verify and troubleshoot a domain.

Downloads and the builder

Try again, or choose a different format. If it keeps failing, email [email protected] with the QR code name and format.
Branded and AI designs download as JPG or PNG at 1024 px, or as PDF. SVG, EPS and larger sizes are available for Custom designs. See Formats and resolution.
AI designs have a daily generation limit. Pick an image you already generated, or use Custom designs or Branded designs until the limit resets.
Either your role is Viewer, or the workspace subscription has ended. Viewers can only download, print and view statistics. If you see This workspace is paused, only the Admin can renew.

Logging in

Click Re-login and sign in again to pick up where you left off.
You may have signed up with another address, or you were invited to a workspace and haven’t accepted yet. See Account and trial.
