GetQR counts every scan of your dynamic QR codes and shows the results on the Statistics page. Use it to see which codes perform best, where people scan them and which devices they use.

Before you start

  • You need at least one QR code that has been scanned. New codes show an empty chart until the first scan.
  • Every role (Admin, Editor and Viewer) can view statistics. See Roles and permissions.

How scans are counted

Each GetQR QR code points to a GetQR short link. When someone scans the code, the short link records the scan and then opens the destination. That’s why you can track a code after it is printed.
  • Total Scans counts every scan.
  • Unique Scans counts each device once per QR code. GetQR identifies a device by its IP address and browser, so if one person scans the same code three times, you see 3 total scans and 1 unique scan.
  • Scans from bots and crawlers aren’t counted.
Some QR codes aren’t tracked because they don’t use a short link. WiFi QR codes, and vCard QR codes that store the contact details inside the code itself, work without an internet connection, so GetQR never sees the scan. They don’t show a scan count.

Open your statistics

1

Open Statistics

Click Statistics in the sidebar. You see data for all QR codes in your workspace for the Last 30 days.
2

Pick a date range

Click the date picker and choose a period, such as Last 7 days or All Time. You can also select a custom range on the calendar.
3

Filter the data (optional)

Click Filter to narrow the data to specific QR codes, QR types, locations or devices. See Read your reports.

See statistics for one QR code

1

Open My QR Codes

Click My QR Codes in the sidebar.
2

Open the code's statistics

Click the scan count next to the QR code (for example, 12 scans). You can also open the code’s menu and click View Statistics.
3

Review the results

The Statistics page opens filtered to that QR code, with the date range set to All Time. Remove the filter chip to go back to all QR codes.
The scan count and View Statistics only link to the Statistics page once the code has at least one scan. Before that, the count shows No statistics yet on hover.

What you can see

Each section is explained in Read your reports.

Date ranges

Use cases

  • Compare two printed flyers by giving each its own QR code and filtering by QR name.
  • Check which cities respond to a local campaign.
  • See whether most people scan on iOS or Android before you design a landing page.
  • Get the numbers by email every week with scheduled reports.

Common issues

Check that the code is active. Analytics aren’t recorded while a QR code is paused. Also check the date range: a new code has no data in an older period. WiFi QR codes, and vCard codes that store contact details in the code, are never tracked.
This is expected. Repeat scans from the same device count toward Total Scans only once in Unique Scans.
New scans can take a short time to appear. Reload the page. If you scanned the code several times from the same phone, only Total Scans goes up.
A scheduled report covers a fixed period (the previous day, week or month) in the time zone you had when you created it. The Statistics page uses the date range you pick and your browser’s current time zone.
