# Payment QR code

> Send people to your payment page so they can pay or donate with a scan.

A Payment QR code opens your payment page at PayPal, Stripe, Cash App or another provider. GetQR only sends people to your link: the payment itself happens on your provider's page.

## Before you start

* Create a payment link with your provider, for example a PayPal.Me link or a Stripe payment link.
* Copy the full link.

<Note>
  GetQR doesn't process payments or see your transactions. Refunds, payouts and disputes are handled in your provider's account.
</Note>

## Create it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the QR code builder">
    Click **Create QR** in the sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Payment">
    In **Choose QR type**, click **Payment**. The builder moves to **Create content**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select your provider">
    Open **Payment provider** and pick the service you use. If yours isn't listed, pick **Other**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your payment link">
    Paste your link in **Payment link**. The placeholder shows what a link from your provider looks like.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pre-fill an amount (PayPal only, optional)">
    If you chose **PayPal**, type a value in **Amount (optional)** and pick a **Currency**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name your QR code (optional)">
    Type a name in **Name your QR Code** to find the code later. Only you see it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Continue to the design">
    Click **Next**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Customize and create">
    Style your code in **Customize & Download**, then click **Create QR**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Settings

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Payment provider** | Required. One of PayPal, Stripe, CashApp, Braintree, Square, Payoneer, Venmo, Verifone (2Checkout), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Adyen, Klarna, Cartes Bancaires, Giropay or Other. |
| **Payment link** | Required. The web address of your payment page. If you leave out `https://`, GetQR adds it. |
| **Amount (optional)** | PayPal only. Pre-fills the amount, for example `25` or `9.99`. Up to two decimals, greater than 0. Leave it empty to let the payer type the amount. Works with PayPal.Me links (`paypal.me/yourname` or `paypal.com/paypalme/yourname`). |
| **Currency** | PayPal only. The currency for the pre-filled amount. **Account default** uses your PayPal account's currency. |
| **Name your QR Code** | Optional. Up to 40 characters. Only you see it. If you leave it empty, GetQR uses a default name. |

## What people see when they scan

There is no GetQR page in between. The phone opens your payment link, so people see your provider's checkout or payment page. With a PayPal amount, PayPal opens with that amount filled in. The payer can still change it before paying.

Because the code points to a GetQR short link, you can switch to a new payment link later without reprinting. Every scan is counted in your statistics.

## Use cases

* Accept tips and donations at events, in cafés or on stage.
* Let customers pay invoices or deposits from a printed bill.
* Sell at markets and pop-up stores without a card terminal.
* Collect a fixed fee, such as an entry ticket, with a pre-filled PayPal amount.
