# AI QR codes

> Describe a picture and let AI draw original artwork around your QR code.

With **AI designs**, you describe a picture in your own words and AI draws original artwork with your QR code built into it. Use it for one-of-a-kind codes on posters, campaigns and social posts.

## Before you start

* You need the Admin or Editor role.
* Each workspace has a daily number of generations. The builder shows how many you've used.

## Generate an AI QR code

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the design step">
    In the builder, go to **Customize & Download**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open AI designs">
    Click the **AI designs** tab. The **General** chip opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Describe your image">
    Type what you want to see in **Describe your image**. Up to 400 characters.
  </Step>

  </Step>

## Limits

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Description length | Up to 400 characters. |
| Generations per day | Shown as "*X* of *Y* generations used today". Shared by everyone in the workspace. |
| Daily reset | Midnight UTC. |
| Text and brands | AI designs can't include text, letters, numbers, brand logos, trademarks or well-known characters. |
| Downloads | JPG or PNG at 1024 px, or PDF. See [Formats and resolution](/downloads/formats-and-resolution). |

<Note>
  When you reach the daily limit, you can still pick any image you already generated, or switch to **Custom designs** or **Branded designs**.
</Note>

## Settings

| Setting | Where | What it does |
| - | - | - |
| **Describe your image** | **General** | Your description of the picture. |
| **Pattern size** | **General** | How strongly the code pattern shows through the artwork, from 40% to 80%. A larger pattern scans more reliably on complex images. |
| **QR shape**, **Corner Square shape**, **Corner Dot shape** | **Customization** | Shapes of the code's dots and corners. |
| **Corner Square color** and **Custom Square colors** | **Customization** | Color of the code. Suggested colors come from the artwork. |
| **Password** and **Schedule** | Chips | Same behavior options as Custom designs. See [Custom QR codes](/design/custom-qr). |

## Tips for good prompts

* **Describe the picture, not the code.** Don't mention QR codes, text or logos. GetQR adds the code for you.
* **Name one clear subject.** "A red hot-air balloon over green hills" works better than a long list of objects.
* **Mention colors and light.** For example "soft morning light, teal and gold tones".
* **Keep it simple.** Simple images with strong contrast make codes that scan more reliably.
* **Skip words and brands.** Requests for text, brand logos or famous characters are blocked.

Examples:

* "A hyper-realistic eye with blue-green tones and soft, natural lighting"
* "A bowl of fresh ramen, top view, warm colors"
* "A watercolor mountain lake at sunrise, pastel sky"
* "A cup of coffee with steam, cozy cafe, warm light"

## Use cases

* **Campaign posters and flyers** that stand out from plain codes.
* **Restaurant menus and table cards** with artwork that matches the food.
* **Event and social media visuals** where the code is part of the art.
